Once installed, the printer is simple to use, manage and control, thanks to the unique collection of utilities supplied free with the printer, avoiding the need for IT Manager assistance. Ask OKI is a dedicated online support tool, accessed easily via the printer driver and Template Manager 2006 provides ready-made templates to assist the printing of items such as address labels and envelopes. To assist management and control, PrintSuperVision allows network administrators, for example to remotely monitor all printers on the network and verify toner status. It also offers full support for OKI Printing Solutions printers within HP Web Jetadmin software, ensuring compatibility with existing systems and total business efficiency. Finally, control over usage is provided by Secure Print which enables password-protected printing.

An optional Hard Disk Drive (HDD) allows storage of data and templates for future use, with an optional Compact FlashTM memory card for extra data storage. Automatic duplex is another option, allowing easy, economical, double-sided printing for a professional booklet output.
